Festivals and Competitions
For both new and experienced writers, reading and literary festivals can be an important tool for promotion and marketing. There are hundreds of festivals and competitions throughout Ontario, from small local celebrations to the leading international festival, the International Festival of Authors held annually in Toronto, and the national CBC Literary Awards

Finding a publisher
There are a number of resource guides that discuss how a new writer can break into the industry, and provide information for experienced writers about publishers.
The Writers’ Union of Canada (TWUC) has devoted a section of its website to emerging writers, in addition to producing and selling the Writers’ Guide to Canadian Publishers. TWUC also organizes workshops on how to get published and survive as a writer.
The Professional Writers’ Association of Canada (PWAC) also provides information about freelance writing for periodicals and papers. Members of PWAC can be listed on www.writers.ca, a site that provides information to people searching for freelance Canadian writers.

The Writers Union of Canada (TWUC) provides a list of literary agents in Canada. Some members of the Talent Agent and Managers Association of Canada (TAMAC) represent writers and all adhere to TAMAC's business practices, code of ethics and inter-agency agreement.
