• Centre for the Arts in Toronto

  The Centre for the Arts is a not-for-profit community arts centre that addresses the need for artists to have a place where their voices can be heard and their works produced. The Centre promotes and presents work in theatre, film and video, music, dance and the visual arts, and provides training and other services to the community.

• Cultural Careers Council Ontario (CCCO)

  Cultural CCCO addresses human resources and career development needs and issues for Ontario's arts and culture community. CCCO develops, facilitates and promotes human resources and career development programs, publications, services and partnerships.CCCO has a job board of work and volunteer opportunities in the cultural sector.

• Cultural Human Resources Council (CHRC)

  CHRC is a sector council bringing together representatives of arts disciplines and cultural industries to address the training and career development needs of cultural workers – artists, creators, technical staff, managers and all others engaged professionally in the sector, including the self-employed. The site provides information and publications of interest to professional artists.

  On the CultureWorks part of its site, CHRC has information about jobs and provides advice about how artists can prepare resumes and other marketing material.

• Equity Showcase Theatre

  Equity Showcase Theatre provides a range of training and professional development opportunities to professional actors, directors and stage managers.

• National Aboriginal Arts Animator Program

  The National Aboriginal Arts Animator Program is a three-year training program for students from a cross-section of Canadian Indigenous cultures. The focus is on storytelling, defined broadly and the core revolves around performing arts practice.

• Ontario Colleges and Universities

  Many Ontario colleges and universities provide education and training in all aspects of theatre and the performing arts, including scriptwriting, directing, acting, stage management, design, etc.

• Theatre Ontario

  This site has extensive information of interest to all those involved in theatre and performing arts, including information about workshops, individual counselling services, mentorships and professional development courses offered by Theatre Ontario. The site also has links to other training resources of interest to professional artists.

• Toronto Association of Acting Studios (TAAS)

  Founded in 1984, TAAS is an association of independent studios offering a wide variety of high-quality approaches to the craft of acting and related theatrical skills.

• Association for Native Development in the Performing & Visual Arts (ANDPVA)

  ANDPVA is the country’s leading Aboriginal arts service organization, representing over 300 of the country’s active artists. The member-driven, not-for-profit organization strives to serve Aboriginal arts through ongoing advocacy, special initiatives and resourceful programming.

• Canadian Arts Presenting Association (CAPA)

  CAPA is Canada’s network of performing arts touring professionals, including artists, agents, facility managers, stagehands, ticket sellers, marketers and impresarios.

• International Network for Cultural Diversity (INCD)

  INCD is a world wide network of artists and cultural groups dedicated to countering the homogenizing effects of globalization on culture.

• Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (PACT)

  PACT is a membership organization that serves as the collective voice of professional Canadian theatres. This site has information about member companies across Canada, training and festivals.

• Canadian Conference of the Arts (CCA)

  Canada Council for the Arts is a non-partisan, non-profit cultural advocacy organization which provides a national forum for debate on cultural policy. Canada Council for the Arts is a leading national advocate for Canada's artists and cultural institutions and industries.

• Coalition for Cultural Diversity

  The Coalition For Cultural Diversity is an organization that includes Canadian cultural professional associations, has a mandate to assert that cultural diversity is a fundamental human right and that countries and governments be entirely free to adopt the policies necessary to support the diversity of cultural expression and the viability of enterprises that produce and disseminate this expression.

• Council of Ontario Drama and Dance Educators (CODE)

  CODE is a registered charitable agency affiliated with many drama organizations, notably Theatre Ontario, Theatre Canada, International Drama in Education Association (IDEA), Arts Education Council of Ontario (AECO), and others.

• Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA)

  TAPA is a professional arts service organization dedicated to advancing the arts in the City of Toronto by promoting and advocating on behalf of local theatre, dance and opera companies and providing services to enhance the artistic, technical and administrative development of its membership.

UNIONS & GUILDS

• Canadian Actors Equity Association (CAEA)

  CAEA is the professional association of performers, directors, choreographers, fight directors and stage managers in English Canada who are engaged in live performance in theatre, opera and dance.

• Playwrights Guild of Canada (PGC)

  PGC is a national association which represents the interests of professional playwrights and promotes their work nationally and internationally.

• Associated Designers of Canada (ADC)

  ADC is a national, not-for-profit arts service organization and professional association dedicated to promoting and protecting the interests of set, costume, lighting and sound designers working within the performing arts in Canada.

• Union des Artistes**

  UDA represents 6,900 full and 4,800 probationary members who work as professional performers in French on television and film productions across Canada, as well as in theatre, music and performing arts.

• Centre des auteurs dramatiques**

  Operating as a service to playwrights, to the professional and amateur theatre communities, as well as to the academic milieu, CEAD represents professional francophone playwrights throughout Canada.
