  • Association for Native Development in the Performing & Visual Arts (ANDPVA)

    ANDPVA is the country’s leading Aboriginal arts service organization, representing over 300 of the country’s active artists through advocacy, special initiatives and resourceful programming.

    Audio-Video Licensing Agency (AVLA)

    The Audio-Video Licensing Agency Inc. is a non-exclusive agent that administers licensing in Canada for the owners and exclusive holders of copyright in audio and music video recordings.

  • Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS)

    CARAS works to explore and develop opportunities to showcase and promote Canadian artists and music. It organizes the annual Juno Awards program, Canada’s national music awards.

  • Canadian Arts Presenting Association (CAPACOA)

    CAPACOA is Canada’s network of performing arts touring professionals, including artists, agents, facility managers, stagehands, ticket sellers, marketers and impresarios.

  • Canadian Association for the Advancement of Music and the Arts (CAAMA)

    CAAMA is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to the commercial development of Canadian sound recording business domestically and internationally. It works to provide the industry and its members with free educational programming and non-commercial showcase opportunities, including the annual Canada Music Week and entry-level music business seminars.

  • Canadian Conference of the Arts (CCA)

    The Canada Council for the Arts is a non-partisan, non-profit cultural advocacy organization which provides a national forum for debate on cultural policy. Canada Council for the Arts is a leading national advocate for Canada's artists and cultural institutions and industries.

  • Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA)

    CCMA is a federally chartered, non-profit professional trade organization whose purpose is to protect the heritage of, advocate the development of, and enact laws favourable to the Canadian country music industry domestically and internationally.

  • Canadian Independent Record Production Association (CIRPA)

    CIRPA is the trade organization representing the independent sector of the Canadian music and sound recording industry and is collective voice of independent music in English Canada. The site contains information about the industry of interest to artists.

  • Canadian Music Publishers’ Association (CMPA)

    Since 1949, CMPA has ensured the views of music publishers working in Canada and its members are heard. It promotes the interests of music publishers and their song writing partners through advocacy, communication, and education.

  • Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency (CMRRA)

    CMRRA is a non-profit music licensing agency which represents the vast majority of music copyright owners (usually called music publishers) doing business in Canada. On their behalf, CMRRA issues licenses to users of the reproduction right in copyrighted music. These licenses authorize the reproduction of music in CD's and cassettes and in films, television programs and other audio-visual productions.

  • Canadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA)

    CRIA is a non-profit trade organization that was founded in 1964 to represent the interests of Canadian companies that create, manufacture and market sound recordings. The site contains information about the industry of interest to artists.

  • Coalition for Cultural Diversity (CCD)

    The CCD, an organization of Canadian cultural professional associations, has a mandate to assert that cultural diversity is a fundamental human right and that countries and governments be entirely free to adopt the policies necessary to support the diversity of cultural expression and the viability of enterprises that produce and disseminate this expression.

  • International Network for Cultural Diversity (INCD)

    INCD is a world wide network of artists and cultural groups dedicated to countering the adverse effects of globalization on world cultures.

  • Ontario Council of Folk Festivals (OCFF)

    The OCFF serves festivals, organizations and individuals working in the traditional, contemporary and multicultural folk music industry in Ontario.

  • Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC)

    OMDC is an agency of the Ontario Ministry of Culture that facilitates economic development opportunities for Ontario’s cultural media industries including book publishing, film and television, interactive digital media, magazine publishing, and music industries. The site has important background information about Ontario’s music and sound recording industry and links to industry sources.

  • Opera.ca

    Opera.ca is the voice of opera in Canada. A registered national arts service organization, it counts all of Canada's leading opera and music theatre companies among its professional company members, and serves a growing number of business, affiliate, singer and individual members.

  • Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA)

    TAPA is a professional arts service organization dedicated to advancing the arts in the City of Toronto by promoting and advocating on behalf of local theatre, dance and opera companies and providing services to enhance the artistic, technical and administrative development of its membership.

  • Toronto Blues’ Society

    The Toronto Blues’ Society is an arts services organization working to promote Blues.

  • Urban Music Association of Canada (UMAC)

    UMAC is the voice of Canada's urban entertainment scene. It is a member-driven, non-profit organization dedicated to building the domestic and international profile of Canadian urban music. UMAC offers professional development workshops, artist showcases, networking events and resource information to its members and stakeholders.

Unions, Guilds and Artists’ Associations

  • American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada (AFM)

    AFM represents more than 16,500 professional musicians. In Ontario, there are AFM locals in Brantford, Brockville, Hamilton, Huntsville, Kingston, Kitchener, London, Niagara Falls, Ottawa, Sault St. Marie, Stratford, Sudbury, Thunder Bay, Toronto and Windsor. The international AFM site www.afm.org has useful information for experienced musicians as well as those aspiring to get into the industry.

  • Toronto Musicians’ Association (TMA)

    TMA, which is Local 149 of the AFM, represents 3,100 professional musicians in the Greater Toronto Area. Its website contains a range of information relevant to all professional artists working in music and sound recording.

  • Freelance Musicians’ Association (FMA)

    FMA was established as an international grass roots organization comprised of instrumentalists, vocalists, musical support staff and supporters of live music. It is dedicated to providing specific services required by musicians who perform primarily in small concert venues, night clubs, community halls, and at a wide variety of public and/or private events.

  • Songwriters Association of Canada (SAC)

    SAC works to give songwriters access to meaningful services that can help them hone their songwriting skills and develop career goals.

  • Canadian Music Centre – Ontario (CMC)

    CMC-Ontario works to develop greater awareness and appreciation of the contemporary Canadian composers who are members of CMC. It provides access to their works both as sheet music and sound recordings. CMC also provides special programs.

  • Canadian League of Composers

    The Canadian League of Composers is the oldest organization in Canada that speaks for professional composers.

  • Guild of Canadian Film Composers (GCFC)

    GCFC is a national organization of professional film composers.
